House Boat Restaurant - Montego Bay, Jamaica

One of my favourite restaurants in Montego Bay is the House Boat.  This restaurant, which is located near  the cruise ship peir in Freeport, is literally a houseboat which is moored on a small lagoon.

You have to take a "ferry" to get to the houseboat which is a great deal of fun even if the ride lasts less than one minute.  The "ferry" it is a little wooden platform with bench seats which is attached to a few oild drums so it floats.  The "ferry" is attached to both land and the houseboat by a rope and once you jump and and are seated the captain pulls you across by the rope ... very cool.

The food at the houseboat is great, as is the ambiance.  The menu is a nice mix of local and international dishes and it is changed and updated quite regularly as ingredients become available.    During lobster season the lobsters are stored in a lobster trap underneath the boat and you get to select the one you want for dinner by looking through the hatch.

Dining is available either inside or outside and they also have a great deck on the top where you can enjoy a few drinks with friends.

All in all a great place and one that I would recommend highly, so enjoy!
