Fort Clarence Beach, Kingston

One of my favourite things to do is go the the beach which is not surprising. Jamaica is famous for it's beaches and some of my favorites are Doctors Cave in Montego Bay, Frenchmans Cove in Port Antonio and the seven mile beach in Negril but this post is about Fort Clarence in Kingston.

Fort Clarence is a beautiful Beach located about half an hour from Kingston. It is clean with lots of shade, bathroon facilities and chair rentals but the best thing about the beach is the fish and festival

There are fish huts on the beach where you select your fish from a cooler. It is then fried and served with escoveitch sauce which is vinegar, peppers, pimento, carrots and onions... simply delicious. Sides include festival which is made with cornmeal or bammy which is made from cassava. Escoveitch is a very popular dish in jamaica but it never tastes as good as it does at Fort Clarence with the sand between your toes, the sun warming your body and the sea as the backdrop.

If you are in Kingston a visit to Fort Clarence is a must.

Fort Clatence is located in the Hellshire area
